Doing Wedding Prep Properly: 5 Essential Things To Consider

Some people love preparing for the big day but others dread it. Wedding planning is one of those stressful things if you let it get to you, but here are some ways for you to do wedding preparation in the right ways.

Prioritise

It's so important not to focus on the smallest details. If you are really nitpicky, this could cause a lot more problems and you could be unhappy. It's far better to keep things in perspective and prioritise the essentials. The essentials are those things that are incredibly important to making the day actually go ahead. This could involve live wedding music if you are music lovers, but it's about making sure that the day has a structure. And it's those big things that will make for a great day.

Communicate Properly

If your in-laws or parents are contributing to the budget, this usually means that they've paid their way into having a say. The best thing that anybody can do is to sit down with anyone that contributed to the budget at the outset and talk about your vision for the big day. Hear what they have to say about what's important to them, and find ways to compromise. The same applies to you and your partner. Making sure that you are both on the same page is the best way to avoid clashes further down the line. One of the biggest sources of stress is when you find out you're on different pages but you are so far into the planning that you cannot help but butt heads.

Create a Backup Plan

Things fall through the cracks, and being prepared for any worst-case scenarios will help you to deal with any issues as and when they arise. Because it's so easy for us to focus on the smaller details, having at least one backup plan gives you another option. Because it's important to remember that the goal is about getting married. So if you get married, the goal has been achieved!

Learning to Calm Down

When we are constantly being bombarded with text messages from our vendors and suppliers, it's overwhelming. It is important to have control over our stress so that we don't go into that dreaded fight or flight mode. Learning how to slow your heart rate down and helping you to be more relaxed is going to be invaluable in the process of planning. This is an event that, from your perspective, needs to be perfect, and this is why learning to relax will give you some perspective on the day itself.

Spending Time With Your Partner (Without Talking About Wedding Planning)

Wedding planning can put a strain on your relationship, and the best thing for you to do is to go on a date. When you go on the date, do not mention the wedding; make it about the two of you. It means you can make the most of some downtime in each other's company, and it's also a nice little reminder of why you are getting married in the first place.
